Data Methodology

How the directory is compiled, normalized, and presented.

Source Basis

The initial release uses two Excel workbooks supplied by the site owner: List of Hindu Temples.xlsx and US Hindu Temples 2.xlsx. The data appears to be historical research from around 2018.

Normalization

Temple listings are deduplicated by normalized temple name, street address, city, and state. Supplemental reviews, service notes, hall rental notes, deity names, and image URLs are merged onto the matching temple page when available.

Current Enrichment

New records are added as curated official-source entries when current temple websites or official network directories provide address, contact, hours, service, deity, or facility information. These records include source URLs and a last-checked date.

Editorial Standard

Pages separate source-derived facts from historical notes. The directory does not claim current hours, pricing, priest availability, event schedules, or service availability unless a current source or temple submission supports it.

Corrections

Temples change names, move, close, and update schedules. Visitors should verify directly with the temple before visiting. Updates should include a verified date and source URL for each changed listing.
