Google So sad to see that the Broome Street Temple has closed its location on Broome Street. It was a haven for peace and it was the only Hindu temple in Manhattan. The space was beautiful and clean, as the people were very welcoming. So excited to see the new location completed!5 Stars

Yelp Did you find it? It's not the hardest in the world to locate but if you don't know what your looking for you might just walk right pass one of the coolest little shrines of Ganesha in NYC. I was on the hunt for this place so I was ecstatic when I found her. The door has a small sign mentioning the temple and if you look up one of the windows has a sign for the yoga studio. Go right in and when you get to the top of the stairs you'll open the door and you'll find the temple. Now remember it's a Hindu place of respect so take your shoes off when you enter. When I got there a guy named Spiro was working the front desk and he was really kind and let me browse through the whole studio at ease. I pretty much went there with my sketchbook to draw and take as much reference as I could bring back with me to my studio and I was not disappointed. Towards the back of the studio they built a little shrine to Ganesha. It's actually quite beautiful when you realize that just five seconds ago you where in the middle of the heart of Soho. It's like a miniature escape from the city. The shrine itself is adorned with two smaller statues of Ganesha in the front and then a much larger one in the actual shrine where it is decorated with offerings, books, sacred trinkets, crystals, and incense. As you walk around the studio you'll find a mix of pictures ranging from advanced yoga positions to beautiful full size renditions of Hindu gods. If you really appreciate little details you'll have a blast looking at all the different fabrics, chains, and designs that these gods are adorned with. There are sections dedicated to other gods like a small mini prayer room that highlights Shiva and another one that highlights Shiva and his wife. Really just a great place to relax if you need a quick break from the city. The space is also used as a yoga school so make sure you double check the hours so you don't bump into one of the classes. Also every Monday and Friday they hold small prayer gatherings so if you want to get to meet other people with similar interests you might be able to strike up a few interesting conversations here. Overall this place is beautiful, relaxing, tranquil, and above all else- spiritual...and let's face it. In a city where people preach on trains, confess in bathrooms, and convert religions faster then train stops... It's hard to find to find a place like this. Good job guys and thank you Ganesha. Bring fruit as an offering to leave at his stairs. Be respectful and open your heart.5 Stars
Yelp My mom took me here. A peaceful place. Good staff. Down to earth priests. It has the quality of shrines that I find near my grandparents house in Bengaluru: small quiet place to reflect on life.Awesome that it is on the way to my first class in the morning. Awesome plus: The staff speaks kannada.5 Stars

Yelp Temple is open during certain hours (during other hours it is a yoga studio). Temple is clean. They have cushions available to sit on. They have print outs (romanized) of a few of the prayers so you can follow along. During part of the ceremony it is open for anyone to volunteer to sing your own songs/ prayers. During one part they blow the conch shell. You have prasad at the end, usually fruit or a dish someone has voluntarily brought. People are friendly and there is not a clique, it is just people, everyone is happy to exchange niceties. There is a separate area that has hangers for coats, shelves for shoes, and a shelf/ bench for sitting to take off shoes, or to keep your bag while praying. There is also a bathroom. They can have weddings here. It is a calm and all-are-welcome place. I keep going back. I hope you come and check it out.5 Stars
