Yelp HJT is such a peaceful and tranquil place. The beautiful landscaping and the decorations are great. Whenever I visit, I always feel peaceful and leave happier than I came. The inside idols and decor is very nice as well. There is a community hall that people can reserve for events (probably very affordable). Events are fun. Holi was a blast!5 Stars

Yelp Located in the town of Monroeville, this is one of the 3 temples nestled in the area and in my opinion by far the most peaceful one. From the minute you enter, you are taken to a world where you can shed all your livelihood troubles and focus on the Supreme One. The priests are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They always take special care of each and every visitor at this house of God regardless of their ability to pay. Unlike the SV temple which is down the road and a major tourist attraction being the first temple in the US...this is the place for you if you truly want to explore your spiritual side.4 stars

Yelp A place where you can find tranquility and connect with GOD! This is what I felt the first time I visited the Hindu Jain Temple in Monroeville. Starkly different from the SV Temple (also located in the area, which is very commercial and more of a tourist attraction), the Hindu Jain Temple is where you can peacefully sit down (not rushed or pressured by the priests to make a donation) and find refuge from the worldly stresses. This temple itself is architecturally beautiful (construction) with a nicely landscaped lawn and a huge parking lot. The inside is clean and quiet, and there is always a priest who will greet you (if you visit more than a few times, they start remembering you) and oblige you if you have any prayer requests. On days of Indian festivals the place can get a little crowded, but not so much that you feel uncomfortable. If you visit, do not forget to go around each section (where they house the big idols) as they have smaller idols and/or pictures from many historic temples all over India. Additionally, they do sell prayer books inside and you can also make requests with the temple for a priest to visit your house/office if you need to have a pooja done.5 Stars

Yelp The Hindu-Jain Temple or HJT is just down right awesome! From the priests to the downstairs hall or the peacefully feeling you get when you enter, this is one of the best places around! The HJT is located in Monroville, not far from 395, so access to east and west and Pittsburgh are very easy. The positives (man where do I start): The HJT is usually kept, clean, quiet and very welcoming. They have a great volunteer organization which helps run everything from the day activities, Sunday school and special holidays like Diwali. My favorite thing about the HJT are the deities inside the temple(this is a Vishnu centric) temple but they also have two Jain deities. That in a nut shell speaks volumes. The area and this temple can have two different religions in the same Temple and worship as one. So this is def. my go to place when I travel back to Pittsburgh, its quiet, clean, and you truly feel at peace when you walk in. I would highly recommend anyone checking it out. Some notes: They do not serve food normally, unless there is an event or Sunday school going on. The Temple is up the hill with plenty of parking in the back, if the front gets full. Also they have a side entrance for cold/icy months.5 Stars

Yelp One of my favorite temples by far. Of course it's in my hometown, and I grew up going there :). However HJT is unique in more ways than one. It's definitely my refuge. The area is always kept clean, and has an aura of peace and wonderful spirituality. The priests here have a friendly attitude to all people, regardless of your background. It also has wonderful architectural detail, and nice landscaping. Even if you are not religious you should definitely scope it out just for the beauty. They do not serve food on a daily basis like Sri Venkateswara Temple, however they do serve food on most holidays down in the community center. Which has a full kitchen and can be rented for special occasions.5 Stars
