Yelp Hidden gem. Been in Astoria five years and used to go to flushing temple. Now I walk to Divya Dham every time. 6:30 pm and am is Aarti. They allow to give 'jal'/water to Shivalinga - only temple I know of in US to allow that! They have an awesome cave that kids love to go through every time. A large hall and several statues.We got 'jalebi'/Indian sweets for 'prasad' after aarti.5 Stars
Yelp Mixed review: The temple used to awesome. A very peaceful place and the short discourse about life the lessons from the priest were extremely meaningful. After the recent events during which the priests were evicted an ick factor has crept in. Apparently, the current temple management went against the wishes of their founder/guru after his death (who they worship) and evicted the other management people who had been invited by the guru to help run the temple -- this is from what people have said about the history and also what I could gather from the internet. I was not involved with the temple then and so it is mostly hearsay. I still go to the temple as the kids love it but I have not yet been able to find the peace. Just the thought of a temple where eviction of the priests has taken place gives a bad feeling. The place no longer has the welcoming and inclusive warmth that used to be there.1 Star
Yelp Very intriguing temple in an industrial neighborhood. The mandir is very large with beautiful murtis. You can easily get lost in the Game of Thrones looking alcoves, however the xmas decorations on the ceiling spoil the look in the main hall. The holy man was very welcoming and offered a blessing despite being a complete stranger. There is a small, dusty 40x40 room that can be used for private events ~$150/hr.3 Stars
Yelp This review is about the staff. I called just shortly to ask the hours of the temple for just coming in for matha- tekho and the man who answers told me "too busy right now". Shocked I replied "God is too busy right now?" No response and he hung up. Unbelievable and not what Hinduism is about.1 Star
