Yelp Back in the 19th century, the Olema Valley was called "Gospel Flat" for its tent revivals&numerous churches. Now it has a Vedanta retreat center far from the chaos of San Francisco's Cow Hollow. Interestingly, the retreat center is literally a cow hollow, with cattle and horses in its pasture. The main building is a converted Victorian mansion. The road there is unpaved and narrow. It doesn't have lots of parking. The man at the information booth is friendly. The main building has a kitchen, a small shrine room with Ramakrishna flanked by Jesus and the Buddha, as well as a library filled with a striking assortment of Hindu, Christian&Buddhist books. The folks there are very friendly. There's a Rift Trail that follows the San Andreas Fault, and one can see a shack torn by the quake. For all its seismic activity, it's a pacific place.4 Stars
